UKSA and ShareSoc respond to the FCA’s consultation on Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and investment labels.
Investment products are not sustainable in the ‘green’ sense.
That their underlying investments may improve or help resolve sustainability problems, yes.
That the investment products are doing so themselves, no.
UKSA and ShareSoc welcome the proposed new rules as they will:
- Help consumers and retail investors navigate the complex investment product landscape,
- Protect us from greenwashing.
- Create a high bar for products that make sustainability claims.
But avoid confusion from the outset; do not label financial products as sustainable.
