The FRC has asked for post-implementation feedback on the 2016 Ethical and Auditing standards. UKSA and ShareSoc recognise that these were introduced before the current concerns about auditing standards became evident.

This fact notwithstanding, we feel that the questions asked in the consultation could have been more searching in trying to reach a better understanding of the causes of the dismal failure that audit has come to represent.

In mid-January UKSA and ShareSoc submitted a joint response to the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee's inquiry into the future of audit.

The UK Shareholders' Association and ShareSoc have made a joint submission to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in response to the Update Paper relating to their audit market study. Our submission is available here: CMA Response to Update Paper - Final. The key points we made were:

1.     The quality of audits needs to be improved;

We are very pleased to announce that Colin Colvin has been elected as the new chairman of UKSA.

Last weekend the Sunday Telegraph carried a front-page Business section article on Persimmon's controversial long-term incentive plan, which was devised in 2012.
